Who is the most inspirational person you know in the built environment sector?

Published by Will Needham on

In this post, I am asking for your help. I’m looking to connect with the most inspirational AEC (Architecture, Engineering & Construction) professionals, no matter where they reside in the world. Good ideas, a knack for innovation and strong leadership matter more to me than physical location.

My plan is to build this blog into a valued resource for global innovation in the built environment. Looking for fresh ideas about how to tackle challenges in the built environment? Future:Distributed is always the place you go. How am I planning on doing this? Well, I am going out of my way to meet as many exceptional AEC professionals as I can. I want to document their experiences and build knowledge around the most innovative, disruptive, and sustainable ideas currently being executed in the global industry today.

I want to speak to, learn from and be inspired by people really making difference in whichever geography they are located.

In doing so, I hope I can bring fresh you ideas to help you solve challenges in new ways. Ideas that you maybe wouldn’t be exposed to within the confines of your local professional community.

This is where you come in

I’ve been lucky enough to work with some world-leading colleagues in my short career to date. One of the things that excites me most about this new project, is my opportunity to reconnect with these incredible people.

I look forward to telling their stories as I know some of there are the most innovative people I have worked with. But I will need more.

Who is it that inspires you every day? Who is it that constantly pushes the status quo with new ideas in your region?

I am looking for one of three things:

1) Exceptional people

Don’t be shy. If this is you, let me know, I’d love to meet and discuss =your experiences and expertise in this industry. If you think you have a story that other people may find interesting. Get in touch!

2) Exceptional companies/ teams

If you manage or work for an incredible team, let me know who and where it is and I’ll be sure to pay you a visit. You will also get the chance to advertise the great work you do to a growing, engaged audience of like-minded AEC clients and professionals.

3) Exceptional projects

If you’re doing breaking the boundaries of what is achievable on a particular project, then let me know about it. Extra points for the offer of a site visit.

You will have the opportunity to communicate your successes to a growing audience who are seeking to learn from your experiences and knowledge. Whatever shape or form that may take.

I believe in a future built environment that is safe, sustainable, healthy, efficient & productive. Actually, I believe pockets of excellence in each of these things already exist; they are just distributed geographically in different parts of the world. My mission is to go out there and find these pockets of excellence and tell the stories of the people, projects, policies that are responsible for such positive steps.
